With a 7.9-inch screen, it can fit in one hand
Whether the Acer Iconia A1-810 tablet fits comfortably in one hand depends on the size of that hand. Taking this picture was a real stretch for me.
Thicker than the rest
The Iconia A1-810 tablet defies the current thin-and-sleek trend by sporting a thicker profile than other small tablets, like the iPad Mini and Nexus 7. The A1's right edge is home to a Micro-HDMI port and microSd expansion slot -- two things the aforementioned small tablets don't have.
16:9 video on a 4:3 screen
HD video on the Iconia A1 looked great, aside from the black bars that fill the frame. Combined with the tablet's large bezels, they made the video smaller and less enjoyable to watch.
5-megapixel rear camera
The rear camera lacks a flash but performs well (for a tablet) in low lighting.
Vivid and bright colors
Color saturation in the photos taken by the rear camera was impressive and the photos looked great on the screen.
Good gaming
The tablet did well while running a variety of games. The graphics and performance weren't mind-blowing, but they were consistently zippy and smooth.
Mono speaker
The tablet's one speaker was average at best. I wouldn't recommend listening to it at max volume, unless you like tinny and weak audio.
Smooth, white back
The tablet's back has a smooth, almost soft, white matte finish. It doesn't help you grip the device securely but makes it somewhat comfortable to hold. It's also smudge-proof to boot.
