A laptop
The Acer Chromebook R13 can be used as a laptop...
A tablet
...or you can flip over the screen to hide the keyboard and use it as a tablet...
A portable theater
...or prop it open like a tent for watching video.
Weak speakers
However, if you are using it to watch video, pack a pair of headphones. The speakers on the left and right sides are relatively weak.
360-degree hinge
The 360-degree hinge is what allows the laptop to be used in so many different configurations.
Versatile design
A Chromebook with a 2-in-1 design is nothing new, but a Chromebook with a 13-hour battery life is.
13-hour battery life
The Acer Chromebook R13 averaged 13 hours in our CNET Labs battery tests. That exceeds the 8 to 10 hours we're used to seeing from Chromebooks.
Not backlit
The keyboard is comfortable enough, however the keys aren't backlit.
Chrome OS
The Acer Chromebook R13 is expected to run Android apps soon. The update hasn't hit yet, but it's supposed to drop in 2017.
Plenty of ports
The laptop has USB-C, HDMI and full USB ports, as well as a MicroSD card expansion slot.
Good for the price
It's not the best performing Chromebook you can buy, but it's high on the list.
For everything that it offers, the Acer Chromebook R13 is a good deal.
