Here's a Siri-powered smart lock for the connected home (pictures)
This Bluetooth deadbolt hands Siri the keys to the smart home.
Schlage Sense Bluetooth Deadbolt
The Schlage Sense Bluetooth Deadbolt is the venerable brand's newest smart lock -- and it's designed to work exclusively with Apple HomeKit, the iOS-based smart-home platform. Click through to see it up close.
Siri controls
With HomeKit, you'll be able to control your lock using Siri. Just ask her to lock or unlock the door, and she'll take care of it.
Lock exterior
You'll also be able to unlock the door by punching in a four-digit code. Or you could, y'know, use a key.
The backside
The interior half of the lock houses the electronics, the battery, and the motor that turns the lock.
A bit bulky
It takes up a good deal of real estate on the door, so heads up.
App homescreen
After installing your lock, you'll pair it with HomeKit using the free Schlage app for iOS devices. Here's the home screen -- just tap on the deadbolt to lock or unlock it.
User management
Programming user-specific codes is a cinch, and it's easy to add scheduled access, too. With user-specific codes, you'll be able to see who's coming in from the app's home screen.
Price point
The Schlage Sense Bluetooth Deadbolt goes on sale this November for $229. That's pricey, but also more or less on par with what we've seen from most other smart locks thus far, including August and the Kwikset Kevo. Be sure to read our full review to see how much sense Schlage makes of HomeKit.
