The Xperia XA1 Plus has a 5.5-inch display, a metal body and a capacious 3,430mAh battery.

Meet the Sony Xperia XA1 Plus, a midrange Android phone with a big screen and a big battery.

There's no price for it yet, but as a midrange phone that sits below Sony's existing flagship XZ Premium and new XZ1 phones, I'm hoping it will come with an affordable price tag.

It's due to go on sale globally in September.

The 5.5-inch display has a full HD (1,920x1080-pixels) resolution which looked crisp and bright in my hands on time.

The 3,430mAh battery is much bigger than the one Sony has plopped inside its new XZ1 phone. I'm expecting to easily get a day of use out of this thing.

The glass on the front curves to meet the edge of the phone.

It's comfortable to hold and I really like the light blue colour.

There's a fingerprint scanner built into the power button on the side, although that function won't be available in the US.
