The 2019 Honda Civic gets a visual and technological boost

It's a bit difficult to tell, but the Honda Civic gets a visual refresh for the 2019 model year.

The biggest news for 2019 is that Honda Sensing, which bundles adaptive cruise control, collision-mitigation braking, lane-keep assist and automatic high beams, is now standard on all Civics.

One of the 10th-generation Civic's hallmarks has been its 15.1 cubic feet of trunk space, which is pretty much top of the class.

The 2019 Civic offers a choice of two engines: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a 1.5-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder.

Models with the 2.0-liter engine make 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. Turbocharged 1.5-liter Civics make 174 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. 

With 2.0-liter models, you can equip your Civic with a CVT or you can row your own with a six-speed manual. The 1.5-liter engine is paired exclusively with the CVT and can return up to 32/42 mpg.

The 2019 Civic gets redesigned steering wheel controls, updated dash trim and extra sound insulation in the floor.

All trims except for the base LX get a redesigned 7-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Base prices for the 2019 Civic range from $19,450 to $27,300 plus $895 for destination.
