2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: A comfortable, 755-horsepower thrill ride

The latest Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque.

The engine from the Corvette Z06 serves as a foundation for the ZR1's powerplant, but receives a bigger supercharger and upgraded internals.

When equipped with the optional 8-speed automatic transmission, the ZR1 can hit 60 mph in 2.85 seconds. 

A 7-speed manual with automatic rev-matching comes standard on the ZR1. With the stick, 60 mph comes in 3.1 seconds.

An available track performance package adds a stanchion-mounted carbon fiber high wing and Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires.

Brembo carbon ceramic brakes are standard on the ZR1 with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers.

A accommodate the larger supercharger, designers had to give the ZR1 a "halo" hood. 

With the optional high wing, the ZR1 generates 950 pounds of downforce at its top speed.

For the first time, the Chevy will also offer the ZR1 as a convertible.

The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is in dealerships now with the coupe starting at $122,095 and convertible beginning at $126,095. Both prices included $1,095 for destination and a $2,100 gas guzzler tax.
