The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GLC63 blends style, luxury and performance

The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GLC63 packs a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that gives 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.

That powerful engine gets the GLC63 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds, though at the expense of fuel economy: it's rated just 16 miles per gallon city and 22 miles per gallon highway.

Upgraded chassis components for this AMG model include all-wheel drive, adaptive air suspension and enlarged brakes.

This GLC63 has upgraded 21-inch wheels, as well as the AMG Night package that blacks out most of the exterior trim, making for a sharp contrast against the Cardinal Red Metallic paint.

The GLC63 delivers explosive acceleration accompanied by a throaty, snarling sound from its quad exhaust tips.

Despite its SUV shape, the GLC63 has enough poise and handling chops to remind us of much smaller Mercedes-AMG sports cars.

Pricing for the GLC63 starts at $70,895, with this example bearing an as-tested price of $91,150. Expensive options include things like the $2,250 Driver Assistance package and 21-inch AMG-style wheels.

The GLC63 still offers a good amount of practicality, with a roomy back seat and up to 56.5 cubic feet of cargo space with the back seats lowered.
