2018 Audi S4 is an understated performer

For 2018, Audi's S4 moves from a supercharged to turbocharged V6 engine. 

While the outgoing engine produced 333 horsepower, this one features 354 ponies.

Together with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the new S4 can hit 60 mph in 4.4 seconds according to Audi.

Sadly, the six-speed manual gearbox that was available in the previous S4 disappears from the options list for 2018.

The S4's new drivetrain is estimated to return 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway according to the EPA.

Compared to the previous supercharged engine, the new turbocharged engine is 31 pounds lighter.

The S4's Quattro all-wheel drive system features a rear-bias 40/60 default torque split.

To improve handling further, the S4 is available with a torque-vectoring rear differential.

The 2018 Audi S4 starts at $51,875, which includes $975 destination.
