'Back to the Future' fans, rejoice!

LAS VEGAS--Back to the Future fans, rejoice! This morning at CES I came across a prototype DeLorean that's set to go into production in 2013. But you won't need to trade pinball parts to Libyans to acquire Plutonium for power. This is no ordinary time machine. This DeLorean is electric.

That's right, the DeLorean Motor Company plans to market the DMCEV in the United States in 2013, and will further develop prototypes combining the existing DeLorean automobile with the Epic EV electric power train.

With the 400 volt AC induction liquid-cooled electric motor, getting up to 88 miles per hour will be no problem, the carmaker says. This DeLorean will reportedly have a top speed of 125 mph and goes from zero to 60 in just 4.9 seconds.
