The audio specialists at Sennheiser have launched a new pair of earbuds: the MOMENTUM True Wireless 2

This exceptional pair of Bluetooth buds brings you best-in-class audio performance, as well as lots of upgraded features for all-day listening, like an outstanding 28-hour battery life and improved design.

Here's your guide to get up and running with the MOMENTUM True Wireless 2.

Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 2: Getting started

The first step in setting up your MOMENTUM True Wireless 2 earbuds is making sure they're charged. To do that, put them into the charging case and connect the USB cable to a power source then to the case. Once they're ready to use, the light on the case will turn green.

Twist the buds into your ears to get started. This is when you might want to try out the different ear adapters. There are four different sizes to choose from. We recommend testing out a few sizes to see which is the best fit for you and your ears.

To pair the MOMENTUM True Wireless 2 with your smartphone, touch and hold the earbuds for 3 seconds and wait for an audio prompt. Then go to Settings > Bluetooth and search for the MOMENTUM TW 2 on your device.

Once you've done this, you can, technically, listen to music straight away. But what makes the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 2 special is that you can customise your listening within the Sennheiser Smart Control app – and it only takes a few minutes.

Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 2: Using the equalizer

The Equalizer allows you to adjust the sound you hear through your earbuds exactly to your liking.

To use the Equalizer, start playing some music. Then, tap the predefined setting points or move the point on the screen around to your liking – you'll be able to hear how this impacts your music and listening experience in real-time.

You'll notice that the more you move the point to the lower part of the equalizer, the more lower tones will be enhanced. And the more you move the point to the upper part, the more the high tones are enhanced.

It's really easy to move the point around the screen, and a gorgeous wave-like visualisation helps you to see how different presets compare to each other.

It's worth spending the time tweaking the Equalizer until you get the sound you like the most. When you're happy with your preset, you can save it with the little plus button at the bottom of the screen. You should name it, that way you can create different presets for different types of music or listening scenarios.

You can edit past presets as well, customising the levels, renaming them or deleting them if they're not right for you anymore. You can also easily revert back to a Neutral preset that's already in the app.

To show you the full breadth of the True Wireless 2's sound, Sennheiser collaborated with sound artist Tim Cowie to create a track called Sound Check. This bespoke piece of music is packed with intricate instrumentals and detailed layers. This will enable you to test the sound quality of your headphones – listen out for the richness, clarity and soundstage of the True Wireless 2.

You don't need Sennheiser's Smart Control app to stay open for these settings to stick around. The last settings you made in the app are stored in your earbuds. So when you use them next, the Equalizer settings remain active and you hear your favourite sound settings.

Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 2: Adjusting the settings

There's also a settings menu in the Smart Control app that's full of other ways to customise the MOMENTUM True Wireless 2 specially to you, your preferences and your ears.

This is where ANC settings are found, which reduce (and in most cases completely cancel out) ambient noise. When you activate this setting nearly all ambient noise around you is gone. Although this setting is brilliant for productivity, it does drain the battery a little quicker than usual – that's why it's good to be able to turn it on and off.

Another important feature is Smart Pause, this pauses music automatically when one of your earbuds is removed from your ear. This is turned on by default and we found it to be a really useful feature – especially if you have to deal with colleagues or family when you're working.

There are also settings to turn on and off tone and voice prompts. The voice prompts are handy for when you're first getting used to using the earbuds, but you might want to turn them off after you've got the hang of them.

Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 2: Customising the controls

One of the most important parts of the settings menu is Earbuds Control. This is where you can define what different taps on each of your earbuds mean.

You can choose one tap, two taps, three taps and hold on each ear. We recommend playing with the current default settings and seeing how they feel. That way, you can figure out if the controls don't feel right to you or if they'll just take some getting used to.

To make any changes, hit the pencil icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. You can then easily define new controls. For example, you might not want to activate a voice assistant with one tap on your right ear. In which case you can switch it around to two on your left. Easy.

This area of the app is also where you can disable all touch controls if you like – or restore the default settings.

Sennheiser is known for creating products with fantastic sound and that's why the MOMENTUM True Wireless 2 have a range of features built-in to bring you the best possible listening experience – tailored to you.
