ZTE to unveil BlueWatch smart watch at CES

Prepare for an avalanche of smart watches! CES kicks off on Monday, and everyone and his dog is rumoured to be launching their own techy timepiece. Chinese budget mobile maker ZTE has come out of the gates early and announced its BlueWatch. Though rather annoyingly, it hasn't shown us what it looks like yet.

Like many of the rumoured smart watches, the BlueWatch has a health focus. A built-in pedometer counts your steps, and the watch gives you info like your body fat percentage (though I'd rather not know after the Christmas I've had). It connects to your phone via Bluetooth, letting you call someone through it, and lets you view your photos, and access your social media like Twitter and Facebook. But it's not the only device ZTE has up its sleeve for CES...

The ZTE Grand S II is its new flagship, and features "the latest intelligent voice control technology". You can speak to unlock it, and to take pictures.

The nubia 5S (where have I heard that name before?) has a 5-inch 1080p full HD screen, and a 13-megapixel snapper. Its little brother, the nubia 5S mini, has a 4.7-inch display, and comes in a range of colours.

The 4-inch ZTE Sonata 4G is the mid-range offering, with a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip, 1GB of RAM, and a 5-megapixel snapper that can video in 720p.

Bridging the gap between phone and tablet is the 5.7-inch ZTE Iconic Phablet. It can show two apps on screen at once, and has a dual-core processor.

Finally, ZTE's Prjector Hotspot is one of the more out there gadgets of CES. It's a Wi-Fi hotspot that doubles as a projector, and can provide wireless 4G access to eight devices at once. And show films.

There's no word on when these will be out in the UK. I've asked ZTE's UK arm and will update this story if I hear back. Hopefully with some pictures.
