Nintendo has released details on what functionality Amiibo will unlock in the Wii U rerelease of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
As previously suggested by an Amazon leak, tapping the Wolf Link Amiibo will unlock the "Cave of Shadow." This new area contains a series of challenges that require the player to use Wolf Link and Midna's abilities to defeat waves of enemies. After completing the cave's challenges, the number of remaining hearts can be recorded to the Amiibo and players can return and try to beat their records.
The Link and Toon Link Amiibo, meanwhile, restore arrows in the game, while the Ganondorf Amiibo makes Link take more damage, so the game becomes more difficult. Finally the Princess Zelda and Shiek Amiibo will restore hearts.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will give the Wii classic a visual upgrade, among other changes. The retail version comes packaged with the Wolf Link and Midna Amiibo.
The remake is being developed by Australian studio Tantalus, and is due out on March 4, 2016.
