ZD Media to lay off 50 staffers

Ziff-Davis Media says it will cut 50 employees, or about 5 percent of its work force. It's the first time the company has had mass layoffs since it became a standalone company last year after shedding its Web, TV and trade show divisions. Ziff is the latest New Economy publishing company to announce job cuts in the wake of a declining ad market, which has affected companies across the Internet and technology sectors.
