Yelp is no longer just a website for check-ins and reviews. It can now be used by Pokemon Go players to find locations of Pokestops.
The company on Friday added a new filter to its website and mobile apps that allows gamers to easily locate businesses and other locations that are close to Pokestops. These real-life locations are used by Pokemon Go players, where they receive in-game items, such as Pokeballs and potions, to help them advance in the game.
Yelp didn't partner with Pokemon Go developer Niantic on this feature. The company is instead crowdsourcing the information from users who check in to a location or write a review. It is currently available to users in the US, Australia and New Zealand.
Pokemon Go has taken the world by storm. The mobile game has been downloaded more than 15 million times since it was released last week and now has more daily users than Twitter, Spotify, Netflix and Tinder.
