Yahoo has confirmed that it laid off about 5 percent of its sales force as part of an effort to streamline that unit's functions. The layoffs totaled less than 15 employees from Yahoo's sales offices across the United States.
A Yahoo representative declined to say whether the company would make further cuts or any operational shifts in the near future. Tim Brady, the chief product officer and Yahoo's third employee, resigned last month. Yahoo said Senior Vice President Geoff Ralston would assume Brady's responsibilities and would reorganize the sales group through some "minor operational shifts." The sales cuts were unrelated to the reorganization, the representative said.
