Microsoft has dropped the price on Xbox bundles by AU$50 for the silly season, and has introduced a new low-end SKU.

In the wake of Sony's new PS3 pricing, Microsoft has joined the discount party, dropping its 4GB with Kinect bundle to AU$399, and the 250GB with Kinect bundle to AU$499 starting 15 September.

The 4GB console will now sell by itself for AU$249, although buyer be warned: it only comes with a standard-definition composite cable; you'll need to get an HDMI cable yourself if you want high defintion.

It's ramping up to be a mega Christmas for gaming: if you don't own one already, will you be getting an Xbox 360 or a PS3?
