WWDC '08 needs a 3G iPhone, for Apple's sake

I hope for Apple's sake a 3G version of iPhone is about to be announced, because if it isn't, Apple will see a tsunami of screaming, whining little crybabies aiming tears and fists of fury its way

Nate Lanxon Special to CNET News

All this talk of the 3G iPhone is purely speculative, with nothing confirmed from Cupertino. Okay, it's highly likely we'll see the 3G model launched next week at WWDC, but it's not guaranteed. Yet the tech world -- not to mention Apple fanboys -- is acting as if it was announced weeks ago.

All I want to say is this: I hope for Apple's sake a 3G version of iPhone is about to be announced, because if it isn't, Apple will see a tsunami of screaming, whining little crybabies aiming tears and fists of fury its way.

What's more, if the 3G iPhone wasn't on the Jobsnote schedule for this conference, it might be in Apple's interest to start writing it in as a post script to whatever the 'One more thing...' item is this year (Pippin 2, PA Semi-powered MacBook Air Take 2 or whatever).

"Oh, and here's one more other thing: er, yeah, we're making a 3G iPhone. Isn't that great? Expect it in the [muffled voice] quarter of [coughing]. Ladies and gentlemen, here's KT Tunstall!"
