It can be disappointing to meet the real people who give voice to the animated characters we love, but not so with Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario, who visited fans in Australia last week.

Martinet has brought "Mario", Nintendo's iconic plumber, to life for over 20 years, but his exuberance for the beloved character seems undiminished. He cheerfully signed autographs, posed for pictures and recorded voicemail messages for hours on end for fans, many who showed up dressed as their favourite Nintendo character.

CNET's colleagues from Gamespot AU caught up with Charles for an interview in-between autographs at Myer's Sydney City store.
