Wireless kits on the rise

The market for wireless networking kits grew to $284.5 million during the 2001 second quarter, a 20 percent increase from the previous quarter, according to a new study by the Dell'Oro Group. Wireless networking kits allow businesses and consumers to link their laptops together wirelessly, so people can roam around the office or house and surf the Net. The study, which focuses on technology based on the 802.11b wireless standard, found that Cisco Systems ranked first in market share, followed by Agere Systems and Linksys.
