Windows CE reaps where Bernina sews

Leading sewing machine manufacturer Bernina on Tuesday announced it is making the first sewing and embroidery machine to be powered by Windows CE, Microsoft's operating system for non-PC devices. The Artista 200E will come with a modem connection to allow downloading of designs from the Internet; support for USB; PCMCIA and CD-ROM input for adding new software and design documents; and a large video screen for viewing tutorials and help documents.

"The Artista 200E is the first authentic sewing computer," said Martin Favre, president of Bernina of America. Pricing and availability will be announced later.
