If there's one thing that's always guaranteed, it's that predictions about when the next PlayStation and Xbox consoles will be released bloom eternal at the start of every year.

But it looks like Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb has decided to sweeten the pot this year, kicking off a countdown on his blog that details the days, hours, minutes, seconds and even milliseconds until this year's E3.

What does it mean? Well, with 159 days to go, it's anyone's guess, but the hot money seems to be on the next Xbox console — although, there's still the chance that it's the Xbox gaming tablet and the Xbox set-top box, which have been mooted before.

With E3 being held in Los Angeles, California in June, we'll be keeping a careful eye on the Major's blog to see what other info trickles out.
