Will a Verizon rollover data plan get you to switch? (The 3:59, Ep. 71)

We also discuss the return of Amazon Prime Day and watching the Olympics in virtual reality.

Verizon customers may soon get a bunch of perks.

The nation's largest carrier is likely set to unveil a rollover data program, a way to remove overage fees and better access to Canada and Mexico. It'll make the carrier more competitive, but we discuss whether it'll actually get folks to jump ship.

We also look at Amazon Prime Day, slated for July 12, and whether it's really worth the hype. Last year's Prime Day yielded mixed results, with key deals selling out too quickly and many other deals failing to impress. This year's Prime Day is supposed to focus on televisions and toys.

Lastly, NBC will broadcast some of the Olympics in virtual reality, but there's a catch. We look at what you need to actually view the games in VR.

The 3:59 gives you bite-size news and analysis about the top stories of the day, brought to you by CNET Executive Editor Roger Cheng, Senior Writer Ben Fox Rubin and Producer Bryan VanGelder.
