Wi-Fi bye-bye from Samsung T709?

Three months ago when I was in Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show, Samsung introduced its new Samsung SGH-T709. While the slim slider design was attractive, what really caught my eye was the promise of integrated Wi-Fi. Since such phones are still relatively few in number, I thought it was cool that Samsung was making the technology more widely available.

Earlier today, however, when I was judging Samsung's entries in the CTIA Emerging Technology Awards, I noticed integrated Wi-Fi was not listed as one of the T709's features. Instead, the phone is to have "high-speed wireless connectivity." Well, that sounds like Wi-Fi to me. There's no word on why the phone's specs were different this time around, so I'm puzzled over the whole thing. Stay tuned.
