Social Studies looks at what's trending on social media throughout the day so you don't have to.
Hanging out on YouTube this morning I made the greatest discovery I'd like to share. While it probably won't be new to everyone, I was browsing the trending videos when I found this fellow named Colin Furze who has a channel dedicated to "crazy inventions, brilliant world records and constant disregard to health and safety." The video that's trending is called "Building a HUGE Star Wars AT-AT."
Seriously, what's not to like?
Before I get to the video, I want to give you a feel for what Colin Furze's YouTube channel is all about. I made some GIFs of previous episodes that show some of the insane and cool inventions he's come up with. Check them out:
This one is called the High Voltage Ejector Bed. Basically, he set it up so when his alarm clock goes off, he gets launched from his bed. What a way to start the day!
In this one he made what I would call a turbo-charged adult Big Wheel, but he calls a Motorized Drift Trike. Who cares what you call it? I want one!
In this one he made a Thermite Launcher and started the video by saying "Look! I made Thermite Launcher! Let's go plaaaaay!" followed by him shooting it at various objects while punk rock plays in the background. Cool, right?
Anyway, I think you get the idea; This guy does some really cool and insane stuff and you can tell he's having a great time! But for the video that's trending today, he put together a team of people to build a giant AT-AT from the Star Wars universe.
Basically, they used a toy AT-AT and multiplied all the dimensions by 12, then used metal, wood, and power tools to construct all the pieces. The big reveal for the finished product isn't until December 8, but this video will show you the process of making it. I can't wait to see the finished product!
