Why You Can Trust CNET Galaxy S22 Deals: Save Big Trade-In Offers and Select Carrier Plans
Direct discounts for the S22 are hard to come by, even more so for an unlocked phone. However, there are some great trade-in offers that you should take a look at.
The Galaxy S22 series may have been overshadowed by the more recent Samsung releases, its Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 series, but the S22 is still a pretty powerful phone (as are most flagships that are just a generation or two behind). And it's also a lot cheaper -- if you can manage to find a deal. We're not seeing many direct discounts on the S22 right now, but there are a few trade-in and carrier deals you can take advantage of.
If you're coming in from the previous S21 generation, upgrading will score you a lot of cool features, most of which revolve around the camera. There's a larger pixel sensor, better nighttime photography and an improved portrait mode, with auto-framing that can handle up to 10 people.
If you want the best Samsung phone in the series, the S22 Ultra is the gadget to go for. We were particularly happy to see the inclusion of the S Pen, which used to be included with the now-canceled Galaxy Note. The S23 has similar upgrades to the camera system, and a couple of special ones, such as raw photo tools and Super Clear Glass lenses for better videos at night, so it's a great phone to pick up if you love photography.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus are available in phantom black, phantom white, green and pink gold. The Galaxy S22 Ultra has a slightly different color lineup: phantom black, phantom white, green and burgundy.
How much does the Galaxy S22 cost?
The three models of the Galaxy S22 are available in various storage configurations, and with the release of the Galaxy S23, Samsung dropped the base price for the Galaxy S22 by $100. US pricing for each model now starts at:
- Samsung Galaxy S22: $700 (originally $800)
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus: $1,000
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: $1,200
Both the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus are available in 128GB and 256GB storage options with 8GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra will also add in options for 512GB and 1TB with up to 12GB of RAM.

If you don't want the headache of navigating carriers, plans and installment payments, you'll want an unlocked phone you can purchase outright. Sadly, there aren't many great deals right now, with only the S22 Ultra 512GB model in burgundy going for $950, which is $250 off the manufacturer's suggested retail price.
Unfortunately, Verizon doesn't currently have any new S22 models in stock, but you can get certified pre-owned models with a new line. Both the S22 and the S22 Plus are available with trade-in for free with a new line.
Best Buy has only $50 off of the S22 Plus, but it also has its own trade-in program, which can save you up to $800 in exchange for your phone or device. You can also get some great deals as part of a carrier plan. On Verizon, for instance, you can save $700 on the Galaxy S22 Plus or $750 on the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
