Where there's smoke, there's flavor

The Fire Up Charcoal Starter Wand is a handheld electric fire starter that hides a secret. An attachment holds wood chips to add smoky flavor.

What does your nose know? It knows how to find flavor. All you have to do is follow it. But where does it lead? Nowhere, unless there is something smelling good in the air. Luckily, that is something you can control on your own.

The handheld Fire Up Charcoal Starter Wand ($39.96) is a triple-duty device for the grill. The electric fire starter ignites charcoal with no need for lighter fluid. After ignition, a second click of the switch activates a blowing mechanism to fan the flames. But it's the third trick that makes things interesting for the good ol' olfactory.

Featuring a smoker attachment, the grill gadget imparts flavor to food with a simple point and click. A perforated nozzle delivers the message; fill it with wood chips of your liking and wave the wand where you want it. The delicious smoky result can be used to enhance any type of food. A built-in wire kickstand keeps the business end of the device safely off of the table and always where you can find it -- or smell it, if you prefer.
