When are Walkman phones going to have built-in 3.5mm jacks?

I fear that Sony Ericsson might be misunderstanding its Walkman phone market if it doesn't add a built-in 3.5mm jack to one of its phones soon.

Recently Sony Ericsson launched an impressive nine new phones. The most exciting one by far was the W880, which is thinner than the spine of a CD case and comes in a rather fetching metal casing -- I was definitely impressed and eager to get my hands on it.

When I finally did get a chance to touch its slim body I suddenly thought, 'Why hasn't Sony Ericsson ever made a Walkman phone with a built-in 3.5mm headphone jack?' I've actually wondered this for a long time, especially since the adaptor that you get in the box always seems to get lost.

Nokia has started to include normal headphone jacks in phones like the N91 and N95, and so has Apple with its iPhone. So why hasn't Sony Ericsson? I thought I'd use the launch of this new uber-cool Walkman phone to find out.

According to Sony Ericsson, it's not a major concern. In fact one of its representatives answered by saying, "You get a 3.5mm adaptor in the box". He clearly misunderstood my question and I fear that Sony Ericsson might be misunderstanding its Walkman phone market if it doesn't add a built-in 3.5mm jack to one of its phones soon.
