When David Beckham made his first trip Down Under a few weeks back, his itinerary was jam-packed with appearances and spruiking gigs.

In addition to playing a bit of soccer and promoting his eponymous fragrance, Becks squeezed in an appearance at the launch of Motorola's V8 Luxury Edition handset -- a gold-accented flip model that comes with a patent snakeskin pouch. It's flashy, it's distinctive, and, as befits someone who pulls in more cash in a day than most of us would earn in a year, it's expensive.

We've offered our first impressions of the Becks phone in a CNET.com.au video, but were curious to see if the reactions of people on the street matched ours. In this week's Whaddyareckon? we grabbed the shiny gold handset and its snakeskin accessories, thrust them into the hands of innocent bystanders and captured their reactions on video.
