Following are some of the notable tech-related events scheduled for the week of Feb. 23.

Security and wireless will grab the spotlight in the coming week, with two huge events scheduled.

The RSA Conference 2004 rolls into San Francisco with security panels from hackers to cryptographers, while the 3GSM World Congress features such keynotes as the chief executives of Nokia and Ericsson during the shindig in France.

Monday, Feb. 22

  • Feeling secure? Information technology security from database management to cryptography products will be featured at the RSA Conference, Feb. 23-27, San Francisco.

  • Wireless World. Mobile operators, vendors and industry experts will discuss the latest trends in wireless during the 3GSM World Congress, Feb. 23-26, Cannes, France.
  • Earnings

    Monday, Feb. 23

    • Novell develops networking software. It is expected to report a first-quarter profit of 3 cents a share.

    Tuesday, Feb. 24

    • Ingram Micro is an IT products distributor. It is expected to report a first-quarter profit of 23 cents a share.

  • Loudeye is a digital music services company. It is expected to report a fourth-quarter loss of 3 cents a share.
  • Friday, Feb. 27

    • Autodesk develops drafting software. It is expected to report a fourth-quarter profit of 29 cents a share.

    Economic Reports
    Tuesday, Feb. 24
    • Consumer Confidence tracks the results of a broad survey on consumer spending expectations. The February index is expected to fall to 93, from 96.8 the previous month.

    Wednesday, Feb. 25

    • Home Sales tracks housing activity. January sales of existing homes are expected to decline to 6.45 million, from 6.47 million the previous month. New-home sales are expected to rise to 1.09 million, from 1.06 million the previous month.

    Thursday, Feb. 26

    • Initial Claims is the weekly total of new claims filed for unemployment compensation. The total is expected to fall to 347,000 for the week ended Feb. 21, from 344,000 the previous week.

  • Durable Goods measures the value of all goods shipped or ordered with an intended life span of three or more years. The total is expected to grow 1.4 percent in January, after a 0.3 percent decline the previous month.
