Following are some of the notable tech-related events scheduled for the week of July 14.

The tech industry wakes up from its summer nap with a slew of earnings announcements from major companies, including Microsoft, Apple Computer, IBM, Intel, AMD and a host of networking and chipmaking giants.

Trade shows include Apple's annual shindig for creative professionals and one of the year's leading events for chip designers.

            Consumer Price Index is one of most significant measures of inflation, monitoring the decline or fall of the price of a fixed basket of consumer goods and services. June growth is expected to climb to .1 percent, after a flat May.

          • Industrial Production measures the total output of U.S. factories, mines and utilities. June growth is expected to climb to .2 percent, from .1 percent the previous month.
          • Capacity Utilization is industrial production divided by capacity. June ratio is expected to hit 74.4 percent, from 74.3 percent the previous month.
          • Thursday, July 17

            • Initial Claims is the weekly total of new claims filed for unemployment compensation. The total is expected to drop to 425,000 for the week ended July 12, from 439,000 the previous week.

          • Housing Starts is the total of new home construction projects. The June number is expected to grow to 1.83 million, from 1.732 million the previous month.
