Watch this stunning time-lapse of the aurora borealis from space
Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti captures a series of stills of an aurora borealis from the ISS. Those images of the light show get turned into an amazing time-lapse video.
Living in Minnesota, there's nothing as beautiful as seeing the aurora borealis over the night skies in the northern part of the state. Perhaps the only thing more stunning would be watching it from space.
European Space Agency (ESA) Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti is aboard the International Space Station as part of the Expedition 42 and 43 crew. She took some time away from her scientific endeavors to snap several images of the aurora from space. Those images were then stitched together into a stunning time-lapse video posted Tuesday so those of us stuck on Earth could witness the beauty of looking down at our planet and watching this amazing light show unfold.
