Watch barefoot soccer, played with balls of fire

The World Cup ain't got nothin' on these Indonesian football players, who swap out the traditional ball with a coconut doused in kerosene and set on fire.

The 2014 World Cup is just around the corner, but all the Lionel Messis and Cristiano Ronaldos of the world can't hold a candle to this Indonesian take on the beautiful game.

In some parts of Indonesia, people have taken to playing football using a flaming coconut as a ball, and the game is played barefoot for an extra challenge. The game is somewhat related to and inspired by Pencak Silat, a form of Indonesian martial arts, and is typically played by students in Islamic boarding schools.

The coconuts are soaked in kerosene for two days in preparation for the 60-minute match, and playing football with these raging fireballs is meant to test the players' psychological toughness and spiritual strength, according to News Track India.

Though you won't catch us playing this enhanced game of football, it's certainly one of the best, most testosterone-laden ways we can think of to prepare for this year's tournament. Check out the insane video at the top of this article to get a feel for the game, which was played at an Islamic boarding school on the island of Java.
