Walmart will try to lure in Black Friday tech buyers with a variety of in-store only sales, as revealed in its new flyer.
Touting its deals for November 27 and 28, Walmart will start selling the original 16GB Wi-Fi iPad Mini for $199 and throw in a $30 gift card to sweeten the deal. That offer kicks off at 6 p.m. on November 27. A couple of hours later at 8 p.m., the retailer will sell the 16GB Wi-Fi iPad Air for $397, complete with a $100 gift card. Another November 27 deal, Walmart is offering an RCA Google Play Android tablet for $29.
Looking to pick up a? Walmart is selling the console for $329 and throwing in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which normally sells for $60, along with a $30 gift card. is going for the usual $399, but that includes copies of Grand Theft Auto V and The Last of Us or a $50 Walmart gift card. A number of games for the Xbox, PlayStation and Wii are also up for grabs at discounted prices.
Many of the in-store deals last just for one hour and are good only while supplies last. You'll need to check the flyer for the hours for specific products if you want to get to your local store on time. Some of the deals are online as well, though, so you can shop from the comfort of your home without grappling with the crowds. And Walmart's deals will actually extend from November 27 through December 1.
"Black Friday is no longer about waking up at the crack of dawn to stand in long lines and hope for the best. At Walmart, it has become a family shopping tradition where everyone shops at some point throughout the weekend," Duncan Mac Naughton, chief merchandising officer for Walmart US, said in a statement. "This year, we're blowing it out with five days of deals in store and online."
Offering its own deals to try to beat retail rivals on Black Friday deals starting on Thanksgiving, Best Buy will cut $100 off all iPad Air 2 models. Those of you looking to buy a new TV can find a Samsung 55-inch LED Ultra HD Smart TV for $900 and a Panasonic 50-inch LED 1080p HDTV for $200. A Beats Solo headphone will sell for $80, a savings of $90 off the usual price. Best Buy will also trim the cost of several games for the Xbox One and PS4 by 50 percent.
Best Buy is also expanding its store hours for the start of Black Friday. More than 1,000 of its stores across 47 states will open at 5 p.m. local time on November 27, with almost all of them staying open until 1 a.m. local time on November 28.
"While we recognize the decision to open on Thanksgiving affects Best Buy employees, customers have made it clear that many of them want to begin shopping on Thanksgiving evening," Best Buy said in a statement. "In recent years, millions of Americans have shopped on Thanksgiving, and our store associates are excited and prepared to help customers fulfill their holiday wish lists."
