Waiting for the Nokia N95

Nokia says it has no plans to release the Nokia N95 in the United States.

Continuing the tragic saga of cool smart phones that we can't get here in the United States, we have the Nokia N95. As you may or may not recall, the N95 is the flagship model of the company's N series of multimedia computers. It has a 5-megapixel camera, integrated GPS, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g), HSPDA, 150MB of internal memory, and a Micro SD slot. The design allows you to switch between different modes; you can slide the dial pad down to make calls or slide the dedicated media keys out in the opposite direction, automatically converting the 2.6-inch QVGA screen to landscape mode. All very groovy, right? So when can you get your hands on one?

Well, we spoke with Nokia yesterday and unfortunately, we won't see the super smart phone here anytime soon, unless you buy an unlocked version for, oh, around 700 smackers. The N95 is scheduled to be released to other parts of the world by the end of the month. The company did add that they could make modifications to the current model and re-release it here in the States but gave no time frame as to when that might happen.
