VOS collaboration yields products

Veritas Software, Oracle and Sun Microsystems, in their collective "VOS" effort to outflank Microsoft, have released an assemblage of products tuned to work well together. The products include Sun's higher-end E6500 server, its A5200 disk array, its Solaris 8 operating system, Veritas' file system and Oracle's database, the companies said Tuesday. A lower-end version with Sun's rack-mountable 420R server also is available. Under the initiative, the three companies offer collaborative support in an effort to resolve customer problems more quickly.
