Vodafone Australia today launched an additional payment avenue through PayPal for its prepaid mobile phone customers.

Similar to standard credit card transactions, payments through PayPal remove the need for customers to buy recharge vouchers from a retail outlet.

Customers register their PayPal account details on the Vodafone website which gives them access to the service on their handset via Vodafone live! web portal. After payment is made, Vodafone allocates the customer a recharge PIN via SMS or email.

To promote the use of PayPal payments, Vodafone is offering a 10 per cent discount on the cost of recharging through PayPal until the end of January next year.

Vodafone PrePay customers can register to make PayPal payments on the Vodafone website. Customers without a PayPal account will need to register a new account on the PayPal website.
