VisorPhone goes retail

The VisorPhone, an add-on that turns Handspring's handheld computers into cell phones, is now available at 235 Staples and Best Buy stores in California, Nevada, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Georgia. Handspring started selling the $299 VisorPhone in December, but only via its Web site. Cingular Wireless will provide service in all markets. On Wednesday, Handspring also unveiled a Japanese-language version of its new Visor Edge handheld computer. Visor Edge will sell for $358 (44,800 yen) on the company's Japanese Web site and in retail stores in Japan this month.
