After closing out on 22 July with US$1,109,351 of its US$150,000 Kickstarter goal, the Virtuix Omni gaming treadmill — a round, concave treadmill designed to let you walk and run around in a virtual gaming environment — is now up for pre-order.

It doesn't come with the Kickstarter early bird pricing, where US$399 scored backers a fully assembled Omni. The peripheral comes in two packages: the Virtuix Omni Natural Motion Interface for US$499, which includes the treadmill, belt, studded shoes and tracking hardware and software; and the Virtuix Omni Duel Package for US$1019, which includes two treadmills and belts and three pairs of shoes. The delivery date is estimated to be March 2014, compared to January 2014 for Kickstarter backers.

After 13 August US time, these prices will go up to US$549 and US$1069, respectively.

Although the Omni can be used with any game that uses keyboard input, its optimal use will be with the Oculus Rift, which is only available for a US$300 pre-order as a dev kit; the company does not yet have a consumer-ready device, and does not know when it will have one.

Still, if you're interested in VR gaming, the two devices combined look set to provide a truly amazing set-up for around a grand, once you factor in the US$100 to US$200 international shipping for the Omni on top.

You can find out more and pre-order the Omni from the Virtuix website.
