Virtela snags $35 million

Virtela Communications received $35 million in a second round of funding, which was led by Norwest Venture Partners. Greenwood Village, Colo.-based Virtela has raised a total of $75 million. The company provides services for virtual private networks. Other investors contributing to the round included New Enterprise Associates, Palomar Ventures and Juniper Networks. Norwest says Virtela will use the funds to expand its sales and marketing staff.
