Virgin Slapped for False Advertising

Virgin Atlantic Airways has been slapped with a $14,000 fine by the Department of Transportation for running misleading ads on the Internet for cheap flights.

Department of Transportation officials charge that Virgin Atlantic used its Web site to advertise unavailable and incomplete fares.

The department monitors online airline advertising on a regular basis. Half of the Virgin fine will be forgiven if no future violations are committed.
