Video: Jaguar XFR suits the refined hooligan

The regal Jaguar XFR offers amusements galore to keep you diverted while you idle in traffic, but it's more than happy to tear your face off when the lights turn green, as Rory finds out in our video

It might not look it, but underneath its refined exterior, the Jaguar XFR is a rampaging beast that can shred tarmac with the best of them. Sporting Jaguar's newly developed 5-litre supercharged V8 engine, it packs more than enough punch to have even a Ferrari F430 worried. Rory, like a cat with a key to the dairy, gets behind the wheel in our road-test video.

Fast as it is though, you'll probably not be going anywhere very quickly if you live in London. It's a good job then, that the interior plays host to gadgets galore, including an 18cm (7-inch) touchscreen entertainment system that lets you watch digital Freeview TV, listen to DAB radio, access music via an iPod or USB stick, and play the whole shebang via a 7.1-channel Dolby Pro Logic II audio system from Bowers & Wilkins.

Watch the video to see the XFR strut its stuff, and then pay our photo gallery a visit for an in-depth look at the inside of this elegant monster.

Update: In the video, Rory said an unrestricted version of the XFR did 255mph in Utah. This was slightly exaggerating its monstrous power: it did 225mph. Apologies for the error.
