Via launches new processor

Via Technologies introduced on Tuesday an 866MHz C3 processor. The chip is built via the 0.13-micron manufacturing process, which allows it to run at fairly cool temperatures. So far, Via is the only company using this manufacturing process on desktop chips; Intel has notebook chips in this category. Via largely sells its chips into Asian markets, such as Taiwan and China. Although Via did not disclose the price, the company typically sells its chips into the budget market.
