Verizon brings its 5G service to Dallas and Omaha
The wireless carrier's 5G city count is now up to 15.

Verizon is turning on its 5G service in Dallas and Omaha. The wireless carrier said Friday that it's expanding to the two new cities, bringing its 5G network count to 15.
"Customers in Dallas and Omaha become the latest to experience the super-fast download speeds delivered by our 5G Ultra Wideband service," Kyle Malady, Verizon's chief technology officer, said in a statement. "We're focused on building 5G right in order to enable unique experiences for our customers."
The new cities give Verizon's 5G network some distance over Sprint's nine 5G cities and T-Mobile's six. AT&T is still in the "lead" at 21 total cities, but unlike the other three carriers, it doesn't let consumers onto its network.

Verizon's 5G offers incredibly speedy downloads but is limited in range. In Dallas, the 5G service will be available in parts of Knox/Henderson, downtown Dallas, uptown, the medical center area and Deep Ellum. It'll also be available around city landmarks including Parkland Memorial Hospital, Children's Medical Center, Jade Waters Pool, Dallas Comedy House, The Curtain Club, Dallas Theological Seminary and Turtle Creek Park.
In Omaha, Verizon's 5G service will be concentrated in parts of downtown Omaha and around landmarks such as Old Market, Omaha Children's Museum, Orpheum Theatre, Durham Museum, Heartland of America Park, Central High School and Creighton University.
Earlier this month, Verizon set its 5G network live in basketball and hockey arenas across the nation, including Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Chase Center in San Francisco and Pepsi Center in Denver, and it'll be live soon in Madison Square Garden in New York City. The launch follows Verizon setting 5G live at 13 football stadiums last month in time for the start of the 2019-20 NFL season.
