Verbatim puts 8GB in your pocket
Some days you need a little extra space. Like on Thanksgiving, when you're wearing what are supposed to be your comfy pants. Or when you bring home a second kid to your two-bedroom home.
External drives can provide some extra space, too. Pocket-size drives are usually around 5GB in size. The Verbatim Store 'n' Go USB HD Drive comes in both 4GB and 8GB sizes. The 8GB drive offers unusually high capacity for a pocket drive, providing enough space for up to 2,000 songs or 20 hours of video. Seagate has a similar device, the Pocket Hard Drive, which comes in 5GB and 6GB capacities. Archos and Iomega both sell 4GB pocket drives.
The hot-pluggable Store 'n' Go has a shock-resistant polymer enclosure to protect the hard drive inside. The enclosure has rounded corners that fit easily in your hand or in your pocket. A built-in USB 2.0 cable swings out for easy access and tucks away when not in use.
Much like the Seagate Pocket Hard Drive, the Store 'n' Go lights up in the center when the drive is connected and receiving power from a computer. The center light flashes when data is being transferred between the drive and a computer.
The drive weighs just 1.8 ounces and measures 2.75 by 2.12 inches. Verbatim estimates the street price will be $129 for the 4GB drive and $199 for the 8GB drive, or about 2 to 3 cents per megabyte. The complete package includes the drive, a travel wallet, a USB extension cable and a quick-start user's guide.
