Recent Deals

 Paciolan raised a $20 million third round of funding. The round was led by Technology Crossover Ventures, which will receive two board seats. The Irvine, Calif.-based company has raised a total of $34 million to date. Paciolan provides software for digital ticketing of college events, performing arts, professional sports and museums.

 Telecommunications company Taqua raised more than $20 million in a fifth round of funding, lead by RRE Ventures. Investcorp, Point Judith Capital Partners and previous investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Columbia Capital and Court Square Ventures also contributed to the round. Richardson, Texas-based Taqua has raised more than $140 million in total. The telecommunications company develops Class 5 switching platforms for local exchange carriers and competitive local exchange carriers.

 Shoreline Communications raised nearly $11 million in a sixth round of funding. Previous investors Crosspoint Venture Partners, Lehman Brothers, Foundation Capital, J.P. Morgan and Focus Ventures contributed to the latest round. The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company has raised a total of $90 million. Shoreline Communications develops IP (Internet protocol) phone systems.

 ScriptLogic raised an $8 million first round of funding from Insight Venture Partners. The venture firm will receive two board seats. Pompano Beach, Fla.-based ScriptLogic develops desktop administration software for Windows-based networks.

 Veridiem closed $6 million in funding for its third round. Previous investors North Bridge Venture Partners, Venrock Associates, Infinity Capital and North Hill Ventures contributed to this latest round. The Maynard, Mass.-based company has raised a total of $36 million. Veridiem develops software to plan, measure and improve the marketing of a company's brand.

 Geo-location software maker Quova raised a $5 million third round of funding. Previous investors Mobius Venture Capital, IDG Ventures and Nexus Group participated in this latest round. Mountain View, Calif.-based Quova has raised a total of $30 million. The company's software-based service provides companies with the geographic location of visitors to their Web site.

 Akustica raised a $4.5 million first round of funding, led by Chamberlain Investments. Pittsburgh, Pa.-based Akustica is a fabless semiconductor company. The company develops an acoustic system-on-a-chip designed to improve how sound is processed and reproduced for communications and electronics products.
