UPS unveils electronic label service

UPS said Wednesday that e-mail will help make the return of merchandise easier. The Atlanta-based parcel shipper said businesses can use its online software to e-mail customers a hyperlink that when clicked gives them access to an Electronic Return Label. The label can be printed out on a sheet of paper and used to return the items through UPS. The service will cost 75 cents per transaction, UPS said, and comes in addition to the various other return services offered by UPS for businesses. The new option is an effort to generate more business for UPS and gives catalog retailers and e-business companies more ways to serve customers, UPS said. E-commerce companies have faced customer wrath in the past over shoddy service, which has motivated some companies to refine their services in a very tough market.
