Unix, Novell servers linked

Novell updates its IntranetWare Network File System Services and Print Services for Unix, allowing companies to link disparate servers.

With major Unix players porting Novell's (NOVL) directory services to their platforms, it seems only natural that more integrated features that link Unix and IntranetWare servers would follow.

Novell today took the next integration step by announcing enhancements to its IntranetWare Network File System Services and Print Services for Unix. The new tools allow users to access documents on any server that supports the NFS protocol. The new print services allow a user to print a file on a Unix or IntranetWare server.

The new tools only need to be installed on an IntranetWare server, alleviating configuration and software distribution burdens for administrators.

The enhanced NFS Services 2.12 is priced at $2,995 per server license. Print Services 2.12 for Unix is priced at $995 per server. Upgrades from previous versions of NFS Services cost $400; upgrades from previous versions of Print Services cost $200.
