'Unbreakable,' 'Split' stories continue with shared sequel 'Glass'

M. Night Shyamalan's superhero films are officially becoming their own universe with a film that will follow both "Unbreakable" and "Split."

Fans wondered for years whether director M. Night Shyamalan's movie "Unbreakable" would have a sequel, prequel, spinoff...anything. Then, a post-credits scene for "Split," a seemingly unrelated thriller , revealed that Bruce Willis' character David Dunn was still around, and monitoring the events of James McAvoy's villain.

Today, Shyamalan finally confirmed what many assumed: The shared universe between the films will continue. The film will be called "Glass," with McAvoy and Willis both returning. So will Samuel L. Jackson, as Mr. Glass, and Ana Taylor Joy as Casey Cooke.

The film is currently scheduled for release Jan. 18, 2019.
