The United States and China have reached an agreement to curtail copyright theft, ending weeks of tense trade relations that included mutually imposed sanctions, sources told Reuters news service.
Acting U.S. Trade Representative Charlene Barshefsky will meet with Chinese president Jiang Zemin later today to seal the agreement, according to the sources.
The United States has alleged that roughly $2.3 billion of U.S. music, compact discs, and CD-ROM software has been pirated by Chinese businesses and individuals.
