Twitter #Trumpsopoor tag mocks Trump campaign's mere million in cash
After his campaign reveals he only has about $1.3 million in cash on hand, the Internet goes nuts.
When the Donald Trump campaign revealed its far-less-than-expected fundraising results Monday, lagging way behind Hillary Clinton's, people headed to Twitter to mock him with the now-trending #trumpsopoor hashtag.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee started June with $1.3 million in cash, according to a campaign finance report.
There was at least one attempt to hijack the hashtag with anti-Clinton sentiment, but for the most part it's a stream of sarcastic one-liners.
"If need be, there could be unlimited "cash on hand" as I would put up my own money, as I have already done through the primaries, spending over $50 million," Trump said in a statement Tuesday. "Our campaign is leaner and more efficient, like our government should be."
Happy Tuesday, Internet.
